How Manai works
What is Manai? Personal guided practices for your everyday life
Manai is an app that helps you build a better relationship with yourself through personal guided practices. Describe what you are going through, shape the words and approach, and create audio you can save and replay. AI helps with creation; you choose what feels relevant and what needs changing.
What does the name Manai mean?
Manai takes its name from the Hawaiian word mānai. The Pukui–Elbert dictionary entry, available through Wehewehe Hawaiian language dictionaries, identifies it as a needle used for stringing lei and a verb for stringing them.
For our app, that gives us a metaphor: your goals, intentions, and dreams are the flowers. Manai helps thread them into a daily practice, helping you weave your vision into reality through small, intentional steps. This connection between flowers and personal goals is our brand metaphor, rather than a further dictionary meaning or a claim about Hawaiian tradition.
A vision can be something quiet. You might want to speak to yourself more fairly after a mistake, trust your judgment, or honor a boundary. The practice gives that intention words and a moment in your day.
What does Manai actually do?
Manai helps develop original scripts and narrated guided practices from a conversation. You can create personal meditations, EFT tapping, affirmations, visualizations, breathwork, and reflections. The practice directory explains the available formats and how to request them.
The purpose of personalization is to change the substance of the guidance: the situation it acknowledges, the words you repeat, the scene you imagine, and the time you have to participate. A recording about “confidence” may miss the particular moment when you struggle to speak. Your description can give a practice that specific focus.
You do not need to choose a technique before starting. You can begin with a concern, an intention, or wording you already want to use.
How AI fits into the experience
Manai uses AI to support the conversation, script creation, and production of personalized guidance. It helps turn your description into something you can listen to and revise.
You remain the person deciding whether the result fits. A generated script can misunderstand your situation or use a phrase you dislike. Ask to review it before narration, correct the assumption, and request a different version. AI-generated guidance does not establish that a technique is accurate or appropriate for every situation.
Manai’s role is to make a personal practice easier to create and return to. It does not promise a particular emotional result or replace the relationships and qualified support you may need.
A concrete example: meeting a mistake differently
Suppose you send an unfinished document to a colleague and spend the evening telling yourself, “I always mess things up.” The intention is to take responsibility without turning the mistake into a verdict on your worth.
Original illustrative request:
Create a four-minute reflection for after a mistake at work. Help me separate what happened from the way I am judging myself. Use “I can correct this without attacking myself.” Leave room to name one repair action. Keep the language plain and avoid saying everything happens for a reason. Let me review the script first.
Review whether the script names the situation fairly. If it says “I never need anyone’s approval,” you might replace that with “I can care about feedback without making it the whole measure of me.” Choose a narrator and request enough space to think before producing the audio.
After listening, the practical next step might be sending the corrected document. The practice supports reflection; it does not do the repair for you. This is an example of how to use the product, not a testimonial or evidence of a particular outcome.
Start small, then keep what resonates
A simple first workflow is:
- Describe one moment and the response you want to practice.
- Choose a manageable length and mention wording or approaches to leave out.
- Review the script and ask for specific changes.
- Choose narration, create the audio, and listen.
- Save and replay a version you want to return to.
You can revise a practice when circumstances change. You can also keep using a familiar recording. Returning to something useful does not require generating a new session each day.

Frequently asked questions
Is Manai only a meditation app?
Meditation is one supported format. You can also create tapping, affirmations, visualization, and reflection. Choose the format that suits the experience you want to practice.
Can I edit what Manai writes?
Yes. You can supply your own wording, review a script, and request revisions. Changes to a script need updated narration to be heard in a new recording.
Can a practice use my own voice?
Eligible active paid accounts can create a personal voice when capacity is available. This is optional; available narrators are another choice. The own-voice guide explains access and limits.
Do I have to feel positive before starting?
No. You can describe doubt, frustration, or uncertainty and ask for language you can honestly engage with. A believable starting point may be more modest than the goal you eventually want to reach.
Are all creation features available on every plan?
No. Features and creation allowances vary by plan. Check current pricing and the options in your account before starting.
