How Manai works
Record your own meditation in Manai
Manai's Audio Studio lets you record a complete practice in your own voice or import an existing audio file. This gives you control over the actual performance—your emphasis, pauses, and tone—while keeping the recording with a practice you can return to.
Your delivery can be part of the practice
Sometimes the words are already right, and the important choice is how you say them. A reassurance spoken quietly may feel different from the same sentence delivered like a motivational speech. Recording the whole practice lets you make that choice yourself.
This is especially useful for affirmations you genuinely believe, a reflection you have written, or a familiar sequence you want to lead at your own pace. You can use a Manai script as a starting point, revise it into natural spoken language, and perform it once.
Record a complete audio version
Open the practice’s Audio Studio and choose Upload or Record. In Record mode, allow microphone access, review the script if useful, and begin. The recording flow offers pause and resume, playback review, re-recording, and a name for the finished version before upload.
Make a brief trial recording first. Listen for distracting room sound and words that feel awkward aloud. If a sentence runs too long, edit the sentence rather than racing through it. Leave the actual silence you want to hear: the recording captures your delivery, including your pauses.
Audio Studio is a paid-plan feature. See current plans before planning a workflow around it.
Import audio you already made
The iPhone import screen lists M4A, MP3, WAV, and other supported audio formats. Its displayed maximum is 100 MB, and the import must contain readable audio lasting at least three seconds. A file extension alone does not guarantee that the device can read the underlying audio.
Choose the file, review the duration and size, and give the version a useful name. “Boundary affirmations—quiet delivery” tells you more than “Recording 7.” Use audio you own or have permission to use.
If importing fails, check the file’s size and whether it plays in a regular audio player. Try a supported export format and return to the upload flow.
Recording and voice cloning solve different needs
A full recording preserves one performance. A personal voice clone is a separate feature that can generate narration of new words using a voice created from your sample, subject to eligibility and availability.
Choose recording when the precise human delivery matters. Choose an eligible personal voice when you want to produce additional scripts without reading every one aloud. Neither automatically updates an older audio version when you edit its script.
After saving, play the version you intend to keep. Review any background-music choice separately; an imported recording may already contain music, and adding another layer can make the words harder to hear.
Frequently asked questions
Can I record the entire meditation myself?
Yes. Audio Studio’s recording flow supports a full recorded audio version, including pause, resume, review, and re-recording. Save it under a recognizable name after checking the sound.
Which files can I upload?
The iPhone screen lists M4A, MP3, WAV, and more, with a 100 MB maximum. The file must contain readable audio of at least three seconds; format compatibility also depends on the audio encoding.
Is a recording the same as a cloned voice?
No. A recording is audio you performed. A voice clone is used to generate new narration from text and has separate paid-account and availability requirements.
Will changing my script change my uploaded recording?
No. The recording contains the words already spoken. Record or upload another version if you want different words, and check which version you select for playback.
