EFT Tapping for Body Confidence When Getting Dressed Feels Hard
You're getting dressed to meet friends. There are several outfits on the bed, nothing feels right, and each look in the mirror brings another criticism. Now you're running late, which gives you something else to be annoyed with yourself about.
If this sounds familiar, consider what you’d actually want to hear in a short EFT tapping recording. “I love everything about my body” might be a long way from your mood. “I’d like to get dressed and get on with my day” may be a place to start.
You don’t have to resolve every feeling about your appearance before choosing something to wear.
Words you’d be willing to say
Begin with what’s happening: “I’m finding this difficult today.” Or be more specific: “I’ve changed clothes three times, and I’m getting frustrated.”
Then try a few lines like these:
- “I’d like to wear something comfortable.”
- “I want to go and see my friends.”
- “I don’t need to keep checking the mirror.”
- “I’m allowed to get on with my day.”
Read them aloud. Keep the ones that sound like you and change the others. Perhaps “I don’t need to keep checking” sounds too firm. “I’m ready to take a break from the mirror” might fit better.
Watch for words that add pressure. “I feel beautiful and confident” asks you to agree with two feelings you might not have. “I’d like to be a little kinder to myself while I get ready” asks less. There’s no need to reach the bigger declaration by the end of the recording.
The script also doesn’t need a detailed account of everything you dislike. A brief acknowledgment may be enough when those are the descriptions you’re already tired of hearing.
Put a few phrases into a recording
Use the tapping sequence you’ve learned. If tapping is new to you, learn the locations through suitable instruction before relying on audio reminders.
Choose a handful of phrases and ask Manai to put them alongside your familiar point cues, with time to say each line back. Start with one round and see whether you’d like more.
For example:
Help me make a short tapping recording for when I’m criticizing my appearance while getting dressed. Focus on choosing comfortable clothes and getting on with my day. Use the sequence I paste below, leave time to answer, and let me read the script first.
Check that the draft says what you meant. A prediction that everyone will admire you probably misses the point; a line about wanting to see your friends stays closer to the reason you’re getting ready.
Choose an available narrator and try the audio. If a cue interrupts you, ask for a longer pause. If you change the script, request new narration so the recording includes those changes.
When the recording ends
Pick the next practical step: put on the comfortable shirt, gather your things, or step away from the mirror for a while.
Your feelings may be much the same. There’s no need to replay the track until you approve of your reflection. Keep it if you’d like to use it again; change it if the words stop fitting.
